Jamaican Commissioner Ellington promotes Police Constable to Corporal

August 31, 2013
The Commissioner of Police, Owen Ellington, during a tour of the St. Catherine North Division, promoted a Police Constable to Corporal of Police while on operational duties in the division yesterday morning. According to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Anthony Castelle, head of the division, the promotion comes in light of the consistent demonstration of commitment, discipline and outstanding contribution of the Officer to crime fighting initiatives in the division. During the Commissioner’s tour, the St. Catherine North Operations Support Team (OST) seized one .45 pistol with two rounds of ammunition in Sligoville, in the parish.

One man was taken into custody in relation to the find. This follows Thursday’s seizure of one AK 47 rifle along with eight cartridges on Valdez Road in the parish, during which two men were taken into custody. The identities of the men in both incidents are however being withheld. Meanwhile, the Commissioner is encouraging the men and women in the division to continue their relentless efforts in maintaining law and order while upholding the standards of the organization.
